SL AO7 — Presentation skills

This AO7 entry covers the same ground as SC3.1 (planned talk) but from the perspective of the formal endorsement criteria Edexcel uses to grade the complete spoken language component. See SC3.1 for the full explainer on technique.

Summary of AO7 for the endorsement

AO7 is assessed holistically across the whole presentation event — not sentence by sentence. The teacher completes the assessment using Edexcel's grid:

• Distinction: controlled, confident, deliberate choices, persuasive, sustained
• Merit: structured, mostly fluent, deliberate choices of language and register
• Pass: communicates simply, mainly clear, some organisation
• Not Classified: does not meet the Pass threshold

Key additional note: the endorsement also considers the preparation and planning process. You may be asked to submit planning notes, which show your deliberate decision-making.
