SL AO8 — Q&A and feedback responses
This AO8 entry summarises the endorsement-level criteria for the Q&A element. See SC3.2 for the full strategy guide.
AO8 in the endorsement context
The Q&A session is a formal assessment of listening and responding — it happens immediately after the prepared talk. The teacher (and sometimes peers) ask questions. AO8 is assessed alongside AO7 and AO9 as part of the overall endorsement grade.
At Distinction level, AO8 requires: perceptive listening; confident, full responses; extending the discussion; adjusting position when challenged.
The failure mode is one-word answers or parroting back the question — both signal Pass-level performance only.
